Sankofa Safe Child Initiative is pleased to announce that they are offering a Workforce Development Social Enterprise Project to assist our families in becoming more employable through the development of our Customer Service & Sales Education Training. This training is held at the Bishop Dempsey Center, located at 1449 South Keeler Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60623. Trainings are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, of each week.
We have opened up, Sankofa It's in the Bag Boutique, located at 2413 West Madison, Tuesday- Saturday 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m., Chicago, Illinois 60612 with the sole purpose of providing on the job training as a means to be employed. Participants from the Workforce Development Customer Service Training will receive on the job experience and knowledge to retain employment. The training will also prepare participants for other areas of interest that goes along with the clothing industry and/ or fashions at it's best. Certificates in customer service will be given to participants upon completion of the training. Cruz Reyes, the workforce developer and counselor will provide job placement for those that qualify for other stores that we have linkage agreements with.

For more than 16 years the Hospitality Academy at McCormick Place, owned and operated by the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA), Has changed lives for the better. The Academy's mission to provide high-quality training has helped serve dozens of Chicago's hospitality venues, while opening up a world of career opportunities for hundreds of graduates.
Now, more than ever, the MPEA remains committed to supporting our community and helping residents obtain the workplace skills needed for careers in the hospitality industry. For that reason, the Academy is pleased to offer Career Clinic-- an accelerated, intensive 3-week program which will provide displaced workers with the tools they need to compete in the marketplace. The Career Clinic's 30- hour per week paid training will offer participants the opportunity to attain Foodservice Sanitation and BASSET Certifications, while providing them with a professional resume, verbal and visual communication skills, and on-line application training. This 3 week program can help motivate individuals achieve their dreams.
Please submit the application along with a letter of reccommendation, to the Hospitality Academy by April 17th. The Career Clinic is scheduled to run June1st through June 19th.

OAI.Inc. is proud to announce the we're recruiting for our Chicago Southland YouthBuild (CSY) training to begin Wednesday, October 14, 2009. This 9- month training is geared to assist young adults between the age of 18-24, gain instruction and experience in the construction trade, with an emphasis on "Green Building". Each student will receive a weekly stipent of $100 each week to cover basic work and class- related expenses, such as transportation and lunch. Applicants must not have a highschool diploma or G.E.D. as intensive academic curricula is incorporated within the training to help students achieve this goal.
Orientations for the interested applicants will begin Wednesday, August 19th, at our satellite office in Riverdale, 13725 S. Wabash Avenue. Interested applicants can contact our Riverdale office at (708) 201-7156 to schedule an appointment.
