Speakers must register in person.

The current foreclosure crisis has hit hard in every community. Legal help is difficult to find and too expensive for most families facing foreclosure.

Chicago Volunteer Legal Services' would like to introduce, free legal services . We believe our services can help the constituents who are in danger of losing their homes and destabalizing the neighborhoods.

CVLS provides free legal representation for those indigent homeowners who are in or facing foreclosure. We are the first and pre-eminent pro bono provider in Chicago, offering totally free civil legal aid on an individual basis. Last year, our 2,500 volunteers helped in excess of 17,000 low income Chicagoans with their legal problems-for free.

Hispanic Heritage Organization

Hosts Annual 2009 Hipsanic Heritage Essay Contest

The Hispanic Heritage Organization is hosting the annual Hispanic Heritage 2009 Essay Contest . The Hispanic Heritage Organization, founded in 1994 to enhance education and cultural awareness for Hispanics and non- hispanics each year celebrates Hispanic Heritage month (September 15th through October 15th ) by hosting a variety of events.

This year's essay topic is How I would develop a plan for immigration." Essay may be written in written in English or Spanish. The contest is open to all students in the States of Illinois from grades 4 through 12th and college and adult education students. 17 winners will be selected. Entries must be submitted with an entry form on or before Friday, July 31, 2009. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 18, 2009, during the Opening Ceremony at the Palmer House Hilton, Chicago. 1,200 people will be in attendance at the Opening Ceremony, Friday, September 18, 2009, The Palmer House Hilton. The essay contest is open to all students in Illinois. This is an excellent opportunity for those students seeking additional school funds to continue their education.

Pace Suburban Bus will be conducting public hearings for the purpose of considering an ADA paratransit fare increase.

Pursuant to the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Act with respect to any increase in fares or charges for public transportation whether by the RTA or by any service board of transportation agency, a public hearing must be held in each county in which the fare increase takes effect. Notice of the public hearing should be given 20 days prior to the hearing and at least 30 days prior to the effective date of any fare increase. Notice shall be given by public advertisement in a newspaper or public circulation in the metropolitan region and must also be sent to the Governor and to each member of the General Assembly whose district overlaps in whole or in part with the area in which the increase takes effect. The notice must state the date, time and place of the hearing and must contain a description of the proposed increase. The notice must also speciify how interested persons may obtain copies of any reports, resolutions, or certificates describing the basis upon which the increase was caculated.
