Illegal parties are taking place within your community and are causing disturbances and dangerous situations. Please be aware of the possible indicators of an illegal party taking place within your community.

 

  • Occurring in a vacant or abandoned building
  • Charging admission
  • Sale of alcohol without a license
  • Curfew violators
  • Overcrowding
  • Excessive noise
  • Drinking on the Public Parkway
  • Fights and other disturbances

 

Call 911 when you suspect an illegal party is occuring. You can also TXT2TIP The police if you receive information that an illegal party is going to occur at 274637 (CRIMES) or call your local district community policing office.

Independent Police Review Authority

Is an independent department of the City of Chicago responsibility for the intake and the investigation of complaints regarding police misconduct.

IPRA is staffed by civilian investigators and headed by a civilian Chief Administrator who is appointed to a four- year term by the Mayor.

IPRA intakes all allegtations of misconduct made against the Chicago Police Department (CPD) members whether from a member of the public or from another CPD member.

 

IPRA investigates allegations of misconduct that concern:

USE OF EXCESSIVE FORCE

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

VERBAL ABUSE, INCLUDING BIAS

COERCION

IPRA investigates certain incidents regardless of whether misconduct is alleged:

  • ALL CASES IN WHICH A CPD MEMBER DISCHARGES A FIREARM, STUN GUN OR TASER IN A MANNER THAT COULD POTENTIALLY STRIKE AN INDIVDUAL.

 

  • ALL DEATHS OR SERIOUS INJURY OF PERSONS IN POLICE CUSTODY.

 

 

The IPRA office registers complaints 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily on the 12th floor of the Illinois Institute of Technology Tower, 10 West 35th Street; or register a complaint with the desk Sergeant at any Chicago Police Department District Station.
